YOUR ROLE

Bay Home & Window is seeking a Payroll Accountant to be responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll function for a 100+ employee company

  • Process accurate and timely payroll on a consistent basis
  • Interface with PEO/ payroll system to assure accuracy, consistency and timeliness
  • Assure that all regulatory filings are accurate and timely
  • Prepare key reports for management
  • Maintain relationship with payroll service to ensure accurate and effective reporting

A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF A PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT INCLUDES:

  • Process accurate and timely payroll on a consistent basis.
    • Manage to a pre-established payroll schedule of deliverables on a consistent basis
    • Process hourly, salaried, and commissioned payrolls in an accurate and timely manner
    • Establish and enforce policies and procedures for the accurate and timely collection of time via automated time system
    • Assure all new hires, terminations, leaves of absence and PTO are accurately paid and managed in the accounting records
    • Adhere to payroll processing cutoffs
    • Validate that Vacation and Sick Leave Accruals are properly accruing and that they are reflected properly to the employee
  • Assure that state/regulatory filings and employee related funds are accurately and timely processed
    • Manage to a pre-established payroll schedule of deliverables on a consistent basis
    • Assure that experience rates, locations and employees are in the correct taxing code
  • Prepare key reports for management and key stakeholders
    • Prepare analytical reports for monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statement
    • Provide analytical reports for annual budgeting and periodic forecasting functions
    • Review payroll registers to assure that there is an accurate payroll
    • Run key reports and provide to management on a monthly basis
  • Maintain relationship with third party payroll processor in an accurate, effective and cost-efficient manner.
    • Assure efficient and accurate set up of employee information
    • Reconcile vacation accrual to supporting worksheets
    • Assure the payroll interface with the general ledger is accurate
    • Develop and maintain key working relationships

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College Degree in accounting field, strongly encouraged
  • At least 5 years of payroll system experience
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) highly desirable
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality around sensitive personnel and payroll issues
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, diplomatic, and problem-solving skills within a rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work within a published schedule
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and think analytically
  • Undergo a criminal and credit background check, in accordance with local laws and regulations
